Feedback sought on publication of an on-line membership list

Some members have suggested an on-line member list so they could find contact details for other members.  We would welcome your comments on the idea of publishing an on-line membership list with member-only access.

Issues you might like to comment on are: ability to opt-out and how much information e.g. name, e-mail address, region, employer, membership level, etc.

I agree this would be a good way to find therapists. Perhaps members could be given the option of publishing their details or not?

I think this is a good idea. People should be able to opt-out if they wish.... Name, email address and region are probably the most important. The employer is usually given by the email address - and people could choose to give a personal email if they preferred. Do other associations provide this?

I think it's an excellent idea and would be useful for us to be able to access for contacting members and vice versa. I agree that there should be an opt out option.Members need only supply the information in the fields (e.g. employer, membership level)they wished to.

I agree. We would need some way of keeping the information up-to-date. Maybe checking your online info could be a requirement when renewing membership each year.

Publication of Online member list

I agree that this is a great idea. I don't feel that an 'opt out' option is that important personally. I would suggest also that a simple list of current member names be available on the public website (so clients or employers can check if a SLT is a current member). I think it is important that contact details (including current employer) are not available to the public.

Absolutely. A list mentioning names, region, eployer and contact details would be very useful.

In my new role as an administrator, supporting Felicity Bright in her NZSTA Professional Development role, I would really support this initiative.

I can see many positive uses for an on-line member list that would be beneficial to us as members, as well as to others.

The member's name, contact email address and geographical region would be useful info to share, as well as the option of indictaing the therapist's area(s) of clinical interest/speciality.

Many thanks Sarah.

I think this is a great idea. It's a good way to stay in touch with ex colleagues. Also a good way to seek professional advice if needed when access to colleagues is difficult.

I think this is a brilliant idea. It'll help with keeping in touch, networking, knowing who works in what region/specialty etc. Coming from Western Australia and having worked in private practice, their was a similar listing for those except it was a list a private practitioners - it was updated annually and downloadable as a PDF file. Looking forward to hear more about what others think. Voon Pang, Akld
