Launch of the VFSS Clinical Practice Guideline
New Zealand Speech-language Therapy Clinical Practice Guideline for Videofluoroscopic Study of Swallowing (VFSS): 2011
We are pleased to announce the launch of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapy Clinical Practice Guideline for Videofluoroscopic Study of Swallowing (VFSS) in April 2011. This guideline has both The New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association (NZSTA) and The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) endorsement.
The aim of this clinical guideline is to support consistent speech-language therapy practice through explicit evidence-based statements. The guideline includes recommendations regarding areas of competency needed to perform and interpret a VFSS, safety, equipment/resources and protocol. The guideline aims to be relevant to the assessment of both children and adults and to support practice across the breadth of services of New Zealand (i.e. rural and urban, community and hospital-based).
The full guideline can be accessed at VFSS Guideline.pdf. Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Anna Miles at a.miles@auckland.ac.nz.
